Lady Joanna Wyatt (née Blackthorne) is the eldest child of Arthur and Alyssa Blackthorne. She is married to Wallie Wyatt, the Lord of Tumbledown Falls, and together they have two children; a son named Artie and a daughter named Marnie, both of whom are still in their infancy. As the first child of such a highly-regarded public figure, there was a great deal of expectation placed upon Joanna from the moment of her birth. The fact that she was a pretty but nevertheless ordinary girl was a disappointment to many a bard, who were expecting her to be the stuff of legend. Joanna grew up in a relatively happy, safe environment and was doted upon by her grandfather, Lord Giacomo. But Giacomo's unending generosity took him a step too far when his friend Bernie Wyatt suggested matching Joanna to his heir, Wallie. Even though the Wyatt match was far less than the eldest daughter of the Great Griffin deserved, Giacomo made the arrangement gladly. This would later be regarded as one of the greatest political mistakes of the Jolly Griffin's career, earning him resentment from his firstborn Arthur and ire from his secondborn Dominic. Although only 6 years old at the time, Joanna was miserable with the match at first, yet she had no choice but to comply. Over the following years Joanna became increasingly separated from her old family and increasingly attached to her new one as she was eventually fostered by House Wyatt. By 1014AE even her own siblings regarding her as an outsider. Joanna has little in common with other Blackthornes; she is pleasant, sociable, and soft-hearted, uninterested in political schemes and matters of warfare. Even in her physical appearance she takes more from the Monmoth side of the family.
When Knox soldiers attacked her brother Jaster's wedding, Joanna found her son Artie was caught in the crossfire. The infant was butchered by assassins, and his mother descended into a deep depression. This was followed by the suspicious death of her daughter Marnie after her uncle Dominic assumed lordship of House Blackthorne. Joanna currently confines herself to her chambers, refusing food or visitors, and many of those who know her believe that she is going mad.
