Stormborn, often called Stormlords or Storm Kings, are a genetically-engineered race made from a composite of Human and High Elf characteristics. They descend from a colonizing race of Sorcerers in the Thunderlands that historians called the Grey Folk; these individuals managed to learn the ability to manipulate nature itself, including the factors that influenced the characteristics of their offspring, allowing them to cherry-pick the traits they desired the most and make them uniform among their children and their children's children. Different descendants of different Storm Kings vary in the areas they excel in, but they all share the uniform characteristics of High Elven beauty, superior mental and physical ability, and an affinity for the nature-manipulation sorcery known as Terramancy. They are longer-lived than ordinary humans and display a higher resistance to Demonic influence. The various crises that plagued the Thunderlands following the First Battle of Nchurdamz caused the Stormborn to gradually die out among the aristocracy as their magic waned. Their ancestry is most common in modern times in House Blackthorne, though the members of that family have heavily suppressed their magic. Their vassal houses, such as Karhall and Monmoth, also have Stormborn ancestry, though it is not as prevalent in their offspring.
